1. It was originally entitled Karnama. It was changed to Besharam to accommodate the brazenness-quotient that Ranbir's character crams into his con-man's role.
2. The film was to be produced by Viacom 18 who pulled out as the budget was way beyond their expectations.Reliance gladly stepped in.
3. Director Abhinav Kashyap was offered a chance by producer Arbaaz Khan to direct Dabangg 2. He instead preferred to spend more than a year working on what finally became Besharam.
4. Comic actor Deven Verma directed a film called Besharam in 1978 with Amitabh Bachchan and SharmilaTagore in the lead. The film was one of the biggest flops of the Big B's career.
5. The vivacious Tapsee Pannu was auditioned opposite Ranbir. She flunked. Pallavi Sharda who had played the second-lead in Love Breakup Zindagi was selected.
6. Rishi Kapoor and Neetu Singh who play Haryanvi cops do not play Ranbir's parents in Besharam.
7. Ranbir had to do a sequence with his Dad where the younger Kapoor had to call the senior abusive names. In real life Ranbir can't even look into his dad's eyes while talking.
8. Rishi Kapoor shot a song and dance on his birthday on 4 September with his wife Neetu Singh and son Ranbir. He says it was the best birthday gift of his life.
9. Ranbir had to urinate into a sarso field while singing Tujhe dekha toh yeh jaana sanam from Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge in a Haryanvi accent.Ranbir's director was not sure if Shah Rukh Khan and AdityaChopra would see the humour of it. It was Ranbir who convinced his director to go for it.
10. Besharam opened on Gandhi Jayanti. We doubt Gandhi would have approved.It's a Wednesday release. No Hindi film has been released on a Wednesday.Jab Tak Hai Jaan and Son Of Sardaar were released on Tuesday November 13, 2012.
